Biography

Ffa Coffi Pawb (literally: "Everybody's Coffee Beans", phonetically: "Fuck Off, Everyone") are commonly acknowledged to be the prototype of the Super Furry Animals (SFA) and were signed to top Welsh music label, Ankst.

The band was made up of SFA's Gruff Rhys as frontman, with SFA's Dafydd Ieuan as drummer. Rhodri Puw, now a member of Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (GZM) and Dewi Emlyn, (once tour manager for GZM and SFA), were the other two band members.

The band released three albums, Clymhalio, Dalec Peilon and Hei Vidal! whilst together. In 2004, a compilation of the band's best tracks was released under the title Am Byth ("Forever") on the Placid Casual label.

Cover notes:

Some notes for those listening in English! Ffa Coffi Pawb present Hei Vidal!; a confused album for a confused age. I mean for f'sakes it's 1993, and what are we? Mods, Rockers; Post Mod Rockers. Why aren't we making techno records? Anyway, here are some insights about the songs. The standard of standard is falling and all you can say is "Ffarout". 'Profion Moddion' : The secret of the 1990's is positivity - global extinction, aids - WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!. 'Wyneb i Waered' is equally paranoid, but in a more confused and dreamlike manner. 'Colli'r Goriad' is about losing the key - to everything. Whilst 'Arwynebol Melyn' is a yellow superficial song for horselovers. 'Sega Segur' stomps its way into the virtual reality of extreme paranoid techno fear. So for relief we can ealk along the polluted of 'Helo Traeth'. 'Pelydr Secs' is another confused song about being hit on the head with a stone, leading on to 'Ofn Cw^n'; a pretend dog phobia song dedicated to Oscar and his gang. 'Llychia dy fflachllwch drosda i' (Throw your flashdust all over me) merges some dumb rhymes with the realisation that the world is a flop and that bimbo pop is worthy of celebration, yeah! etc.............
