Ruby Cruiser: News

13/07/00: The debut album was released last week, and it was a great successs. New tour dates also added.

22/06/00: The Legendary TJ's nightclub in Newport is preparing to take over Tredegar Park this summer on Sunday July 30th. "TJ's IN THE PARK" will be the first event of what is hoped to be a long-running festival.

There will be two stages with 16 bands and the line up consists of the club's prestigious past and includes some of the best new Welsh bands, including the revamped and rocking RUBY CRUISER, who will be releasing their debut album on July 3rd. The band will be touring to promote the release and will appear on 'The Welsh Stage' along with touring pals The Crocketts and six other up-and -coming Welsh bands.

Ruby Cruiser look forward to playing this prestigious event for South Wales and meeting up with as many fans as possible. Tickets are available from Newport Centre, TJ's (of course!) or Rockaway Records in Newport Market and are £10.

04/06/00:A new drummer joined the band in January after getting in touch with Mathew (Phillips, vocals/guitar). Lee Kendrick was in the band previously around 1995 when they were called Discord but he left to join a signed band in Newcastle called Whatever. They have written about 12 new songs together and have played a few gigs.

The album release date is set to be the 3rd of July and hopefully they will be doing some promotional gigs in Wales the week of release. Also they have just appeared on a TV show called "THE FIZZ" which was on BBC choice. Future plans hopefully involve some festival apperances, and some touring to coincide with the album.

01/12/99: Hi and Welcome to the Ruby Cruiser news section. We've had a really busy, enjoyable, exciting year releasing singles and touring with The Yo-Yo's, My Ruin!, The Crocketts and travelling up and down the country doing our own shows.

The third single we've released this year is available now (release date: 15/11/99) and with continued support from press, radio and everyone out there who's buying the singles and coming to the shows, we are continually building on our success. Xfm and GLR in London have broadcast sessions we recorded at their studios and the Radio 1 Session From Wales broadcast 3 tracks we exclusively recorded for them at Monnow Valley Studio, Usk. (Watch Out for them appearing as B-Sides in the not too distant future!!!).

We have just finished our last 3 dates on The Crocketts tour, which was superb, especially Tunbridge Wells last Saturday (Nov 27th)!!! WOW!!! Big respect to everyone who came to the shows and to The Crocketts & Crew for letting us join them on tour and making us feel part of their gang.

December sees us finishing the year on a high with lots of one off shows (listed in the tour dates section) and a couple of Christmas SheBang's on Dec 20th at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff with Skindred, who feature ex-members of Dub War and Dec 21st at The Legendary TJ's, Newport with Veltone, who feature ex-members of Novacaine, and Varispeed, currently causing a stir in the music press. Please come along, they're going to be nights to remember!!!

At the start of the new year we will be announcing touring plans to coincide with the release of our debut album "Twelve Short Stories". This will be followed by the release of a new single "Hey Samuel, Take Your Hands Off My Lemon Tree" shortly afterwards and promises to be our biggest attack yet on the radio airwaves !! Something cool is being planned for this release so check back next year to hear the final plans.

We all would like to say thanks to each and every person who has bought our singles, attended our gigs and supported us throughout the year. If you haven't bought the single, please do, it's out there waiting to be bought!!! It is available on 2 Cd's, CD1 contains 2 extra Ruby Cruiser tracks and CD2 contains a break-beat remix by Smak Daddi and the trance overtures of Manchild.

Enjoy youselves, have a great end to the year, look forward to seeing you at our shows and please check back next year for an update. Cheers !!
